In the cooperation project, companies from the textile, footwear, sports, camping, tools, garden center, garden furniture, wood, kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, furniture, sleeping and toys sectors are participating. A total of 28 companies are participating.
“Investing together in resources such as knowledge, time and costs creates more synergy and efficiency and results in better compliance. This allows companies to focus much better on actually making social impact and save many thousands of dollars,” the trade associations said.
“Collectively, following the prescribed CSRD methodology, the key sustainability topics for the industry have been determined and are then validated by external stakeholders. The outcome is the industry format that includes a set of sustainability topics that provide a strong foundation for companies to establish a company-specific sustainability strategy required by the CSRD with relatively limited time and resources,” reports the release.
Despite the current project coming to an end in November, industry associations are already considering follow-up projects. This may include making some of the tools developed during the project available to the public, as well as launching new projects that companies can join to support the CSRD journey.
