ABOUT ROOSENSTEIN WOLKE
What began as the dream of their great-grandfather, Johannes Hildebrandus Roosenstein, lives on today in their collection and mission. Johannes originally started making sailor caps – a first step that laid the foundation for what is now known as ‘De Rooscap,’ a sustainable icon that has stood the test of time.
In the meantime, the family business has grown into a specialist in high-quality knitwear. Unique and authentic styles that have been part of the collection for decades and are still relevant today. They use the finest natural and recyclable materials and offer a collection of "evergreens." All their products remain in the collection for an extended period, allowing them to avoid clearance sales and continuously invest in the quality of their products year after year.
The Mission of Roosenstein Wolke
The clothing industry is one of the most polluting industries in existence, partly due to the way clothing is produced and the enormous distances it travels within the supply chain.
Perhaps the biggest problem, however, is the massive amount of waste produced annually. Clothing has become a disposable product, and it shows. Every year, 92 billion kilos (equivalent to one truck per minute) end up in the trash. In addition, synthetic materials, making up over 30% (900 million kilos), are one of the largest contributors to the microplastic problem.
With their collection, they show that this is not necessary. By using high-quality, sustainable natural materials and creating products that last for years, and sometimes even generations.
