In the second episode of Textilia's podcast, in collaboration with CAST, Textilia speaks with Bob Rijnders, founder of Best of Brands and co-owner of the denim brand Butcher of Blue.

In this episode of the Textilia Talks podcast, also in collaboration with CAST Nieuwegein, Bob shares his journey through the fashion industry—from opening his first store to building a brand independently.

The growth of best of brands and butcher of blue
Over the years, Best of Brands expanded from a small shop into a leading fashion store of about 600 m². But Bob wanted more than just retail—he delved deeper into the world of denim, contributing to the launch of Denham the Jeanmaker and introducing Nudie Jeans to the Netherlands. "My passion lies in vintage denim and finding inspiration for collections. I wanted to focus more on that."
This led to the creation of The Butcher of Blue, initially a small project featuring a T-shirt and a sweater. "Eight years ago, my cousin and business partner Maarten and I were sitting by a campfire when we decided: we’re going to take this seriously." Their shared experience in wholesale shaped their strategy. "We consciously chose wholesale rather than immediately launching a brand store. Retailers build brands—that’s something I still believe in."
