“Whether you're showcasing a few racks or representing a major brand, everyone is treated equally at CAST,” Caroline emphasizes. And that’s not just lip service—CAST is committed to creating a welcoming atmosphere, staying accessible, and offering genuine attention. “Every morning, we brief our team: be enthusiastic, but above all, be authentic. No scripted acts. Visitors can sense the difference.”

Marijn describes CAST as a “micro-community” where human connection and mutual respect take center stage. “Treat others the way you want to be treated. Even when things don’t go as planned, we remain approachable and engaged.” Feedback is taken seriously. “When someone shares a negative experience, I don’t just brush it off—I pick up the phone. There’s value in that,” adds Caroline.

According to Marijn and Caroline, the strength of the preview events lies in continuous improvement and finding the right balance. “For each edition, we look at the content of the offering—not who signed up first, but who brings something meaningful to the table,” Marijn explains. This creates room for innovation and surprise. “If visitors know exactly who is where, the element of discovery disappears. We want people to truly engage with the collections.”

Marijn and Caroline draw inspiration from everywhere—from international fashion fairs to local hospitality experiences. “We’re always switched on,” Marijn says. “Even at festivals or during Dutch Design Week, we observe processes and look for ideas we can apply.”

When asked how they unwind, their answers come with a smile. For Caroline, it’s spending time with her horses. “Riding through the woods, cleaning out the stables—it helps clear my head.” Marijn laughs: “I skip that part, but browsing shops in the city is just as relaxing for me. Or an hour at the gym—I’ve recently picked that back up.”

With this episode, CAST and Textilia wrap up the first season of the podcast—looking back with pride and forward with ambition. “We’re just getting started,” says Caroline. “We want to keep growing, improving, and surprising—together with our exhibitors and visitors.”
