In the first and second quarters of this year, the shoe retailer will open new stores in Den Bosch (Helftheuvel Passage), Deventer (Colmschate Shopping Center), Enschede (Enschede Zuid Shopping Center), and Groningen (Paddepoel Shopping Center). With these expansions, the total number of Nelson stores will grow to 113.
Additionally, a new Skechers brand store – a concept also operated by Nelson Shoes – will open in a former Blokker property in Apeldoorn. This will bring the total number of Skechers stores in the Netherlands to 15.
"The choice for the Blokker properties was made because they offer a large surface area, allowing us to optimally implement our concept. In terms of locations, they were also a great addition to our existing store portfolio in strong commercial areas," said the spokesperson.
The vacant Blokker locations are being filled at a rapid pace. In addition to Nelson and Skechers, Wibra, the German discounter Kik, the Danish retailer Normal, TerStal, and Kruidvat are also opening stores in multiple former branches of the bankrupt household chain.
