Omoda and Assem acquire Shuz and Leurink Mode

Omoda and Assem are expanding their market presence through the acquisition of Shuz and Leurink Mode. These strategic acquisitions bring the group's total number of stores to 58, according to a press release from Assem.

Acquisition of Shuz

Assem is acquiring the retail chain Shuz, which offers a wide range of men’s and women’s footwear. In addition to its online store, Shuz operates ten physical locations in Alkmaar, Gouda, Haarlem, Wassenaar, Enschede, Leiden, Amersfoort, Castricum, Uithoorn, and Borne. This acquisition strengthens Assem’s position as a premium fashion retailer with nationwide coverage.

Wilmar and Marcel Schmit, owners of Shuz, stated in the press release:
“We see in Assem a partner that can serve our customers with the same passion and dedication, ensuring the company’s continuity into the future. Our family has worked hard for generations to build Shuz into the strong brand it is today. We’ve been following Omoda and Assem for some time and, over the past months, discovered many shared values.”

Jan Baan, CEO of Omoda and Assem, added:
“Shuz’s positioning aligns perfectly with Assem’s, presenting significant opportunities to expand our presence to a national level. This has been our ambition since acquiring Assem, and with this acquisition, we can achieve it in a short timeframe. However, a successful integration hinges on the cultural alignment of the two companies. After extensive discussions, we’re confident that we’ve built a strong foundation for this partnership. From our first conversation with Wilmar, it was clear this would be a successful combination.”

Acquisition of Leurink Mode

In addition, Leurink Mode, a high-end fashion store with over 2,000 square meters of retail space in Borne, has also been acquired by Assem. Known for its exclusive brands such as Isabel Marant and Stone Island, Leurink Mode will continue under the name Leurink by Assem, with the current staff retained.

Marc Leurink, director and owner of Leurink Mode, will remain involved in purchasing. He commented:
“I’m thrilled that our customers will benefit from the broader scale and enhanced service that Omoda and Assem provide. After successfully building an experience store over the past few years, Leurink is ready for the next phase of growth, with online playing a major role.”

“In Assem, we’ve found a partner that not only has the scale and expertise to achieve this but also respects our brand portfolio and existing customer base. This ensures that we can present our brands and partners to an even larger audience. I’ll remain involved to guide this process and help establish Assem as the ultimate destination for high-end fashion, both online and offline.”
