In 1989, family-owned company Van Winkel Fashion, a shirt specialist since 1949, introduced the John Miller brand, known for luxury dress shirts. The John Miller brand originated from Van Winkel Fashion’s label Cotonissimo, which was known for luxury shirts made from 100% pure cotton fabrics supplied by European textile producers. In 1989, the name John Miller was introduced with the addition "Original Cotonissimo." In spring 1995, this addition was dropped, and the brand continued under the name John Miller.
