It’s the summer of 1986. Bart Koene is successfully selling hand-stitched swim shorts on the très chic beaches of Saint-Tropez. One of the girls helping him wraps a piece of fabric around her head to shield herself from the sun, and before long people start asking if they can buy this “cool” bandana. That was the moment of inspiration. Bart decided to focus on headwear and, just a few years later, the brand BARTS® was born.

Over the past thirty years, BARTS® has continued to grow. We believe that the items we create today should become the vintage pieces of tomorrow. While BARTS® is widely known for its winter accessories—such as hats, scarves, and gloves—we have also expanded in recent years to include a full summer collection featuring bags, hats, and swim and beachwear for women, men, and children. A completely new and exciting chapter. From cozy beanies to feminine bikinis, every piece is unique.

Today, BARTS® is sold across Europe through more than 3,000 retail partners as well as our own online store.
