Floris van Bommel Women
In 1734, the Van Bommel family began crafting handmade quality shoes in Breda. Today, the business is led by brothers Reynier, Floris, and Pepijn van Bommel, representing the 9th generation of the family.
Van Bommel has held the Royal Warrant since 1952. The company operates two brands: the traditional 'Van Bommel', offering a wide range of classic luxury shoes, and the sub-brand 'Floris van Bommel', which features stylish and sporty footwear. The latter is named after Floris van Bommel, one of the brothers, who also designs the collections and heads the communication department.
Floris is the creative force behind the brand, working closely with his team to design the collections. His bold and unconventional designs often lead to humorous situations, with labels such as ‘FvB. Since 1734, and still got no clue’ and ‘Floris van Bommel Foodwear’ causing confusion.
With a history dating back to the 17th century, Van Bommel is one of the oldest shoe manufacturers in Western Europe. For nine generations, the family has passed down their shoemaking knowledge. This tradition of craftsmanship is maintained by skilled artisans, with each shoe undergoing 280 steps and taking up to eight weeks to complete.
Schoenfabriek Van Bommel continues to produce a significant portion of its collection in the Netherlands. The company’s factory in Moergestel, employing 140 workers, specializes in the traditional Goodyear welt construction.
