Planning

In connection with the accessibility of Nieuwegein, we have chosen to carry out the work mainly at night and during the weekend. The work has been scheduled in such a way that it will not be carried out simultaneously with Rijkswaterstaat's work on the A2.

The intersection will be completely closed from Thursday evening, October 3, 20:00. On Monday morning, October 7, 06:00, the intersection will reopen.

In the evening/night of Wednesday 2 to Thursday 3 October preparatory work will be carried out. This work will not require the intersection to be completely closed and all directions will be accessible.

If the work cannot go ahead due to force majeure, it will be carried out a week later.


Accessibility

During the work, the intersection will be completely closed to all traffic. Traffic towards and from Nieuwegein city center will be diverted via the slip roads and exits Nieuwegein-Zuid on the A2 and Kanaleneiland on the A12. Please allow for an additional travel time of approximately 15 minutes.


Public transport

During the works, bus line 31 will continue to run its normal route. Bus line 74 will run a modified route. On both Saturday and Sunday, the stops along Henri Dunantlaan, Roerdomplaan and Buizerdlaan will be cancelled. Emergency services

Emergency services will have passage at all times. The contractor will take care of this.


Cyclists

The bicycle paths around the intersection will remain accessible. The bicycle crossing between Buizerdlaan and Batauweg will be closed during the work. Cyclists will be
diverted via Tuinkerspad and the bicycle tunnel near Nevelgaarde.


Nuisance

The work will cause inconvenience. Especially during the first night noise nuisance is expected. Unfortunately we cannot prevent this nuisance, but we will do our utmost to keep it to a minimum.
