How he ended up here
Jeroen didn’t join us through a standard job application, but through word of mouth. “I live in Maarssen, and my son goes to school there. By chance, I ran into an old friend who told me they were looking for a building manager and that the job would suit me well. That’s how I got in touch with MMP. At first, it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for, but now that I’m here, I realize it’s a great fit for me.”
From warehouse to building manager
Before joining us, Jeroen worked in logistics for many years. “I did a bit of everything: order picking, loading, planning. It was fun, but physically too demanding. I was looking for something calmer and less strenuous. Becoming a building manager came at just the right time.”
In his first weeks, he has already learned a lot. Soon, he will be working independently. “That’s quite exciting, but I see it as a challenge. The building is a bit older, so there’s always something to do. I value safety and pay attention to the small details. That really suits me.”
Of course, the building also comes with some funny challenges. Jeroen admitted that, at first, he found it difficult to walk past all the shoe showrooms. “I used to be a bit obsessed with shoes I still have about 98 pairs at home. So when I walk around here, I can’t help but look at things a little differently,” he said with a laugh.
Time for family
Outside of work, Jeroen leads a busy life as well. His fiancée is from Honduras, and since December she and her ten-year-old son have been living in the Netherlands. “It’s a big step for my stepson to adjust to a new country. Luckily, he’s picking up Dutch quickly, but sometimes it’s still a bit overwhelming for him. That’s why I dedicate a lot of time to my family right now. When I do have a quiet moment to myself, I enjoy relaxing on the couch and watching TV.”
His plans
Jeroen’s goal is to really get to know the building so he can keep everything running smoothly. “I want it to feel like my building that I know exactly where everything is and how it all works. That takes time, but I’m confident it will work out.”
With his calm approach and eye for detail, Jeroen is a wonderful addition to our team. Welcome, Jeroen!
